Our new nine-year-old wanted a big, sleep-over birthday party. So, last night nine little girls showed up with sleeping bags and P.J.'s. We did crazy manicures, had cake and ice cream, sang happy birthday, opened fun gifts and watched "Coraline" while eating popcorn and candy. Not a lot of sleeping got done but, there was a lot of giggling. I think everyone enjoyed the party. They all went home with smiles on their faces.

She wanted a "kind of Halloween cake, but not too Halloween" so, I made a cake shaped like a pumpkin complete with green stem.
