A day or two ago, right before we all left for school, one of the kids came into the house from the back deck commenting about a huge bird that had come to rest in the tree in the back-yard.
Sure enough, there it was, and sure enough it refused to leave for almost an hour.
No, it's not a hawk, or a robin, or even a vulture. High up in our tree on a bright Wednesday morning was our Thanksgiving day meal, a large wild turkey.
We have no idea how it got sixty feet up in the air. We have no idea where it came from or where it went. But we are greatful we can cut some of the TVP from our food storage in the happy knowledge that high quality protein will litterally flock to our yard.
Oh, there is a large flock of wild turkey that make their home in a field by the Lowe's but that seems a little far for a stray.

Crazy Turkey! James would have got out his guns!
So funny! I think we got a picture of that turkey walking through our yard there one day!
Did you lure one inside to save for November?
